The highly acclaimed producer crew from Germany consists of DJ Illegal, Det Gunner, Sicknature & J.S. Kuster. They already released 4 albums that feature a veritable who’s who of today’s underground elite! Throughout the years, the buzz surrounding the Snowgoons has steadily escalated as their gritty, authentic and eclectic beats have gained recognition in both the US as well as within the burgeoning European Hip Hop scene. DJ Illegal & Sicknature also represent the Snowgoons live show and killing stages from Europe to America and Canada with artists like M.O.P., La Coka Nostra, A.O.T.P., Goondox, Sabac Red and many others.

Their signature style in producing are these massive beats, that Billy Dance of M.O.P. describes like this „these guys are providing us with these theatrical sounds, with that dramatic sound, with that hard hip hop, with the street joints – they supplied us with everything. We are really psyched about this project!“ – which is the latest M.O.P. album „Sparta“, produced by the Snowgoons. At the Wängl the Goons will not only represent with M.O.P. on the main stage, but also host the Afterparty at the Eristoff Arena together with their homeboy DJ X-Rated.

M.O.P.

M.O.P.

The year 1993 changed the game and set a new level for all crews, clans and gangs around the globe. The formation of tribes like Wu Tang Clan, Boot Camp Clik and of course The Mash Out Posse had a major impact in the music world, but also in the freestyle sports, streetart and fashion scences.
Especially videos like „How About Some Hardcore“or „Wu Tang Clan Ain´t Nuthin´To Fuck With“, which featured their whole hood, instead of a single artist, were intimitading and attractive at the same time to headz around the globe. No wonder that even in the Austrian microcosmos 1993 saw the foundation of two little families called Texta and Ästhetiker.

M.O.P.

In this memorable year M.O.P. appeared on the New York rap scene and dropped their first album  „2 tha Death“ including the street anthem „How About Some Hardcore“. A couple of years and releases later, in 2000 their fourth album „Warriorz“, produced by DJ Premier brought the final breakthrough with songs like „Ante Up“ and „Cold As Ice“.
To the Ä-Crew the M.O.P. show is the ulimate icing of the birthday cake, that we like to call the Vans Wängl Tängl 2012!

Hip Hop Night – “Banana Klan presents Roots Manuva, Ricky Ranking, Seanie T and DJ MK”

“Banana Klan presents Roots Manuva, Ricky Ranking, Seanie T and DJ MK”

Since MethodMag used „Witness“ for a video edit about the Ä-Jam at Gerlitzen in 2002 many Ästhetikers feel an almost intimate relation with this fella. Representing his posse, The Banana Klan, Mr Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva enters the crew contestiväl on Friday´s main stage at the Music Pavillion Mayrhofen.

Smith debuted as Roots Manuva in 1994 on Blak Twang’s “Queen’s Head” single, before releasing his own single, “Next Type of Motion”. Releasing for Coldcut’s renowned experimental/hip hop label Ninja Tune in 1998, some of his music may be seen as a predecessor of grime. The following year he released his groundbreaking debut album, Brand New Second Hand. A reference to his family’s modest lifestyle, the title refers to a phrase his mother used for presents he often got as a youngster that were pre-used.
He had such an impact on the UK rap scene that The Times declared that “his is the voice of urban Britain, encompassing dub, ragga, funk and hip hop as it sweeps from crumbling street corners to ganja-filled dancehalls, setting gritty narratives against all manner of warped beats.” Manuva was rewarded for his breakthrough with a MOBO as Best Hip Hop Act that year.

A quote from Smith himself sums up his early discovery of music:

“It was as a kid. Before I even knew what a soundsystem was. I was walking past Stockwell skateboard park and there was this sound being set up. They were probably just trying out their speakers. I was with my mum, holding my mum’s hand. And I remember my mum being quite intimidated by the whole affair. Such a barrage of bass coming from it! And these dodgy-looking blokes standing beside it just admiring the sound of their bass. It’s just a bass thing. A volume thing. I don’t know if I rose-tint the memories, but I remember it sounded so good, so rich. It’s not like today when we go to clubs and it hurts. It was more of a life-giving bass.“

Hip Hop Night – Ill Mindz

ILL MINDZ

ILL Mindz
Def Ill and Digga Mindz teaming up means original streetrap at it´s ruffest and dirtiest. Digga is yet the only true representative of Corinth-I.A. aka the Dirty South of Austria. He has long made a name for himself as a producer and a rapper with this special flow of the region and a distinct love for the battle, diss and competition elements of Hip Hop.
If an MC is measured by tecnique, flow, style and meaning – then Def Ill has to be called the country´s best rapper. No wonder, that if you start to get on the mic at the age of 10, you are spitting perfect tripple-time-raps in your early twenties and are the worst enemy that anyone could ever have in a beef or battle.
